Rosalia Vila Tobella[2] (born 25 September 1992),[3] known mononymously as Rosalia (Spanish: [rosa'li.a], Catalan: [ruz@'li.@]),[4][5][6] is a Spanish singer. She was raised in Barcelona and has been dubbed an "atypical popstar" because of her diverse musical styles. [9] She was captivated by Spanish folk music when she was just 13 years old. She was a musicologist at Catalonia College of Music and was also a wedding singer. The album combines flamenco with hip-hop and pop music The album resulted in "Malamente" (single) and "Pienso in tu mira (single). Both singles sold out and garnered a lot of critical praise. El Mal Querer was the first to bring Rosalia into the international music scene. Rosalia's albums of 2019 "Con Altura" (13) and "Yo Ti Tu x Mi" (12-13) were pioneers in urban music and achieved global success. The third studio album she released, Motomami (2022) brought reggaeton a new experimental sound, departing from its previous flamenco-inspired style. The album gained worldwide attention for its songs "La Fama" and "Saoko" and went on to become the best reviewed album of the year on Metacritic. Rosalia has had a record of ten top-ten songs in the course of her career in her country of birth. It's the highest number for an artist from that region. Two Grammy Awards, eleven Latin Grammy Awards (including 2 Album of the Year wins) as well as four MTV Video Music Awards and three UK Music Video Awards have been presented to Rosalia. She also received two Premio Ruido Awards. Billboard awarded her the Rising Star Award in 2019 for "changing the sound of mainstream music with her flamenco-influenced pop"[18[18]. She is also the first Spanish-singing artist to be nominated for the Grammys for Best New Artist. Rosalia was born on 25 September 1992 in Sant Cugat del Valles and raised in Sant Esteve Sesrovires,[20][21][22] Baix Llobregat, Catalonia. Born into a family of no artistic experience She is the eldest daughter of Pilar Tobella, a businesswoman who owns a small company focused on metalwork. Her father, Jose Manuel Vila, was born in Cudillero, Asturias. They divorced in the year 2019. [23] Her older sister, Pilar Vila ("born 1989") is her stylist and creative mind. Rosalia expressed interest in the performing arts from an early age, particularly after discovering the discography of Camaron de la Isla. In the Taller de Musics, she began her education in music. She completed a 6-year program at the academy. She began attending class at the Raval school, and then transferred to the Superior School of Music of Catalonia. Also, she was a soloist, singing at weddings and musical bars. She was compensated "a just a little over 80 euros" or in return for dinner.
